I’ve been designing automotive, RF, and analog products for over 55 years. My interest in radio systems started when I was 10 years old. I obtained an amateur radio license when I was 12 years old, in 1963. Like many Ham of that era, my transmitting and receiving equipment was all home made.

When I was 15, I became interested in cars. I built a working tachometer and a transistor ignition system, and I made solid state tubes to replace problematic 0Z3 tubes in early car radios.

I obtained my 2nd class commercial radio engineering license at 17, upgrading to 1st class radiotelephone and a RADAR endorsement when I was 21. I owned Midport Electronics in the 1970’s, specializing in consumer electronics, marine, and two-way radios. I was system engineer for a MATV/CATV and microwave distribution system, providing cable and multipoint microwave systems.

In the 1980’s, I designed for Zenith/Heath. I eventually became General Engineering Manager of a division of a major supplier of automotive test equipment, components, and radio equipment. I designed all Ameritron products and oversaw quality control until Ameritron was sold.  Dozens of my medical, industrial, audio, and two-way radio products are being sold today.
